Ontario Mosaic Artists (OMA) is proud to announce the opening of its third contemporary fine art mosaic exhibit, Reflections, running from November 13th to December 1st at the Leslie Grove Gallery in Toronto.
The opening reception is Thursday November 14th from 6 – 8 pm, and all are warmly welcome. The exhibit showcases the work of mosaic artists, internationally-acclaimed as well as emerging, from across Ontario. Artworks include wall hangings as well as sculptures, and feature a wide variety of materials from glass to stone to metal and more.
“Mosaic artists are a relatively rare species, so it’s really exciting to see so many of us come together to celebrate and promote our artform,” said Patrizia Brasch, an artist from Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood.
Reflections invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted beauty of life through the intricate artistry of mosaics. Each piece mirrors the artist's unique perspective, capturing moments of introspection, connection, and transformation. OMA invites you to immerse yourself in the kaleidoscope of human experience, where individual pieces of glass and stone unite to reflect the beauty and complexity of our shared existence.
The exhibit will feature a couple of new elements for OMA this year.
The first is a Mini Mosaic Exhibit which will run in parallel with the main event. OMA’s Mini Mosaic Exhibit will feature a selection of unique 5”x 5” artworks on Wedi Board for only $99 each.
Also new for 2024 are three free in-person artist talks.
Join OMA at the Leslie Grove Gallery on Sunday, November 17th, from 1 – 4 pm, to hear internationally-acclaimed artists Valerie McGarry (“Contemporary Mosaics as Fine Art in the 21st Century”) and Dianne Sonnenberg (“Finding My Artistic Voice: Connection with Family, Community, and Culture”).
On Sunday November 24th from 2 - 4, join OMA to hear artist Jenny May Gifford present “Fairbank Village Mosaic Planter Project.” Jenny May recently completed the design and installation of 28 mosaic concrete planters (112 panels!) in Fairbank Village, Toronto. The artist talks will also be live-streamed on OMA’s Instagram account.
For visitors who are unable to attend the exhibit in person, mosaics can be viewed as well as purchased online through the gallery’s shop at www.lesliegrovegallerystore.ca.
Leslie Grove Gallery is located at 1158 Queen Street East. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 12 – 5 pm, and Tuesdays by appointment.
OMA was created in 2020 to build and strengthen the community of mosaic artists in Ontario, and to promote the artform through regular exhibits.
